writeNOW

writeNOWThe Humanities Center welcomes you to our writing enhancement program, writeNOW! We offer space for faculty and graduate students to work undisturbed on their writing projects in a quiet, scholarly environment in a community of scholars. We know that with teaching, classes, and other obligations, you might feel overwhelmed by the blank page. Our answer: writeNOW!  We provide the coffee and doughnuts to keep you energized; you bring your laptop, your earbuds, and your inspiration.

Faculty writeNOW

Each Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., UT faculty members who wish to devote time to their writing in an atmosphere of sublime silence will have the opportunity to compose or read in the second-floor seminar room of the UT Humanities Center. No advance reservation is required. Faculty may attend every week or only once.

All faculty participants in the writeNOW program are invited to consult with Alan Rutenberg, the humanities fellowship advisor in the Office of Research and Engagement, who can be present for conversations about projects and prospective fellowship applications. Appointments are encouraged by email at arutenberg@utk.edu

writeNOW-Grad

The Humanities Center welcomes PhD students working on their dissertations to writeNOW-Grad.

Each Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m., UT PhD students who wish to devote time to their dissertation writing in a quiet atmosphere in the company of others will have the opportunity to work in the first-floor seminar room of the Center. No advance reservation is required. Students may attend every week or only once. Be inspired by graduate students from other UT departments in a space reserved for PhD students who want to write.
